NATURAL ARTIFICIALITY
VEGETABLE
AND FRUIT SHOP IN ZURICH, SWITZERLAND - AS A PROTOTYPE FOR OTHER SHOPS
OF THE SAME COMPANY, INTERNATIONAL, 1997.
light,
water and earth are still the decisive
factors for growth of vegetable and fruits. the technical apparatus tries
to adjust to these circumstances in the best possible way and tries to
influence them. the apparatus as visualisation of idealising imaginations
constantly changes and infiltrates men's understanding of nature. how
can one, on the eve of the 21st century, express an adequate naturalness
- although highly computerised, sytematised and technically optimised
- to the presentation and sale of fruits and vegetables?
this
project - as a prototype for other shops of the same company - leaves
the original space the way it is and clothes the walls and ground with
a translucent, detached membrane - treated glass. the surfaces needed
for the sale arise out of this membrane.
the reflection
of wrap - ground relationship unfolds in different contexts varying perceptions
of space. the qualities of glass (absorption, reflection, transmission)
are - through adequate treatment and lightening; natural light, artificial
and punctual lightening of fruits and vegetables and basic lightening
of the space from inside the layers - an illuminated bath for the client
and a refreshing presentation of the products. the artificial of the project
transcends into a natural artificiality, where experience of nature, virtual
worlds, hypernets, vegetables, fruits and selfreflection fuse into a iridescent
rendez-vous of our existence. |
